Clinics & Services
The doctors in this practice believe in prevention and are pleased to offer, together with the nursing team, daily appointments for patients requiring help, advice or treatment for any of the following:
- Allergies Exercise
- Well Person Checks
- Heart Disease Prevention
- Family Planning Cytology
We are pleased to advise that Dr J Lang has undertaken additional training in sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and can offer expert advice, tests and treatment to anyone who feels they may be at risk.
All our doctors have experience in family planning and are pleased to provide care during normal surgery appointments.
Child Health Surveillance
We provide care for all children up to the age of five years in conjunction with the health visitors. Regular developmental examinations are carried out and the doctors strongly recommend that children receive all the routine vaccinations when they are due. Appointments are sent out for the immunisation clinics held every Thursday at Kings Langley but you are welcome to attend during normal surgery hours if you find the times are more suitable. They are also available at Bovingdon Surgery by booking a nurse appointment.
It is advised that all women between the ages of 25 and 65 years have this test. Invitations to attend are sent out routinely to our patients. Appointments may be made during normal surgery hours at your convenience. It is helpful if the receptionist is aware of the reason for the appointment, in order that appropriate time may be allocated.
Please make an appointment with the nurse for a smear unless you specifically need to see a doctor with a problem.
We invite all patients who have not attended surgery during the preceding two years to attend for a health check when blood pressure, urine and current health checks are carried out. Please make an appointment with the nurse.
- Tetanus - it is recommended that all patients have a tetanus vaccination at least every 10 years. Please make an appointment with the nurse.
- Flu - every autumn all our patients over 65 years of age will be invited to attend the surgery for their annual immunisation against influenza. Also invited to come for immunisation are those patients at particular risk from contracting influenza including pregnant ladies and there is an evolving national programme in place to begin to vaccinate children over two years old.
- Travel - the nurse is also pleased to advise on, and administer, foreign travel immunisations.
We have a private Chiropodist who works from our premises. Please ask the receptionist for details of this service for patients who do not meet the strict criteria for NHS foot care.
We are pleased to have the services of two UKCP registered psychotherapists. Both use our premises to provide a private service for our patients. Your GP will guide you to the most appropriate counsellor to help with your particular problem - relationship, family, bereavement etc., or you can refer yourself. Please ask the receptionist for an information sheet for you to decide who you wish to see.
Counselling sessions are totally confidential and nothing will be discussed with the doctors or entered on your medical records without your permission.
This is a private service and charges will be made by the counsellor. We also have NHS counselling services on the premises, available to our patients only with referral from a doctor.
