Practice Management

Practice News:

The partners & practice staff are very sad to announce that our Practice Manager, Sheila Burgess has decided to retire to Dorset to be closer to her family at the end of May.

Sheila has done a fantastic job of managing our surgeries in Kings Langley & Bovingdon since 1989 - together with the team of Doctors, Nurses and administrative staff, Sheila has ensured that we provide an efficient, friendly and safe practice that has doubled in size during her 28 years service.

Sheila has been a key figure in activities both inside the practice, as well as the wider healthcare community - as founder and Chair of the Dacorum Managers group she has worked closely with other Practice Managers, managed the Dacorum Doctors on Call service, been an active member of many Health Authority groups and committees over the years and more recently, a Board member of Dacorum Healthcare Providers Ltd.

We all wish Sheila a much deserved happy and healthy retirement, and all the very best for her move to her new home in Dorset.

Sheila will be succeeded by Jenny West who is a Practice Manager with 15 years experience whom we are pleased to welcome to our team.

Practice Business and Development Manager role:

The practice manager is responsible for the management, administration, finance, general organisation and the development of the practice. She should be contacted with any non-medical queries, problems and suggestions you may have with regard to our service. We always welcome ideas for improvement.

Administration

There is a full supporting staff of secretaries, receptionists and administrative and IT personnel, most working on a part-time, shift basis to allow the surgery to be open into the evening for your convenience. These are the people who will welcome you to the practice, make your appointments, answer your general enquiries, organise your repeat prescription and assist clerically in any referrals that may be necessary. The team ensures that each surgery session operates smoothly and efficiently.

They assist the Manager in ensuring the efficient day-to-day running of the practice, including maintaining efficient filing systems, dealing with correspondence and organising clinics and medicals.
